The Corpus Christi Association†
History:
Corpus Christi began in 2008 when a delegation of Lutherans in Sweden had made a trip to the Higher Things conference
in the USA. Inspired by such a Lutheran youth conference composed of the elements of liturgical worship, confessional
teaching and fun play, they decided to start something similar in Sweden under the name ”Corpus Christi – for the
churchly and biblical renewal amongst the youth in the Nordic Countries.” The Corpus Christi Association was registered in
Sweden where it continues to be based to this day as a registered association. The first Corpus Christi Conference took
place in Varberg, Sweden, in the summer of 2009, and Finns and Norwegians were invited to attend. Originally, the main language was Swedish / Scandinavian, but English elements were included. Very quickly, the conference grew and became more international, attracting attendees from Denmark, Latvia and Germany as well. The emphasis shifted from a youth conference to a young adults’ conference. The statutes of the Association were updated in 2020 to reflect the international nature of the Association.
