History:
The first Lutherans appeared in the territory of northwestern Kazakhstan in the mid-18th century. In the 20th century, the Lutheran Church went through a difficult period and was forced to go underground due to persecutions and harassment. Since the late 1950s, the Lutheran Church of Kazakhstan began to revive. In Almaty, the Lutheran community was established in 1974. In 1992, representatives of the Missouri Synod arrived in Almaty due to an invitation from the German community.
